Worship at Wentz's United Church of Christ
We understand worship as vital to the life of the people. Arising out of the German Reformed tradition, we have two different worship services on Sunday mornings:
Journey Service: We gather at 8:30 a.m. in the sanctuary on the first Sunday of the month September through May. This service is led by our Journey Band, and includes contemporary hymns and songs. We are a bit more informal in this gathering. We celebrate communion.

Early Service: From the second Sunday through the end of the month we gather at 8:30 a.m. in the sanctuary for worship.

Traditional Service: For those who love worship with organ music, choirs, and hymns, our Traditional Service gathers at 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings.

Summer Service: Beginning the second Sunday in June or after Pentecost, whichever is later, we go to one Worship Service at 9:30 a.m. through the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend.
We also gather for special worship times in the life of the church. These include:
Christmas Eve Services: We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior with three differing services on Christmas Eve at 5:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 10:45 pm. The 5 pm service is geared toward our children and youth, the 8 pm service is our traditional style service and the 10:45 pm service is based upon the reading of the Christmas story in scripture and the singing of carols. We celebrate communion at each service, and conclude each one with the singing of the carol, "Silent Night" with candle lighting.

Longest Night Service: On December 21st we gather for a special service during the Advent Christmas season. Our Longest Night service is a contemplative service designed for those who need a break from all the busyness of the season, and for those for whom this time of the year is not joy filled due to life's situations.

Maundy Thursday: During Holy Week we gather on this special Thursday night to remember when Jesus gathered his disciples in the Upper Room for his final meal with them. We end the service with communion, followed by our Tenebrae service, in which we darken the sanctuary as we cover the altar, lectern and pulpit to symbolize the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.

Easter Day: We celebrate this most joyful of all days beginning with our Sunrise Service at 6:30 am on the west side of the church in the parking lot. The Journey Service is at 8:00 am and the Traditional Service is at 10:45 am. Communion is celebrated at all the services, rejoicing in the good news that "Christ is risen!"

Blessing of the Animals: Recognizing our God is the master of all creation, we have a special Blessing of the Animals service at 9:30 am on the last Sunday of August on the church yard. During this service we invite persons to bring their pets to receive a blessing by the pastor, acknowledging the fullness of God's creation.

Community Midweek Lent services: We participate in the community midweek Lent service sponsored by the Skippack Pike Area Ministerium on Wednesday nights during the season of Lent. In addition to worship, this gathering of the community offers fellowship and supports a mission project each year.
