Joy may seem like an elusive emotion in a world that often feels chaotic and filled with challenges. We may think that joy can only be found in fleeting moments or material possessions. But as Christians, we know that true joy comes from our relationship with God. It is a deep and abiding joy that can sustain us through all the ups and downs of life. As I reflect on my message for the last Lenten service tonight, the holy spirit reminded me of Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” The joy of knowing God is not dependent on our external circumstances but is rooted in our faith and connection to the one who died for all of us.
In our busy lives, it can be easy to get distracted, lose sight of God’s joy, and miss out on the happiness that comes from being in God’s presence. But I believe that as we intentionally open ourselves up to God’s joy, we will experience a transformation in our outlook on life. We can find joy in the simplest of things, like the chirping of birds or the beauty of nature around us. As we enter Holy Week in the next few days, it is a perfect time to be inward-looking and focus on drawing closer to God, allowing His joy to permeate our hearts and minds.
Our joyful hearts will overflow, and the Holy One’s joy will spread to those around us. Radiating joy and hope, even in the midst of difficult circumstances, is a powerful witness to the world. Our joy can serve as a light to others.
By faith, say out loud so your ears hear your voice with clarity and confidence:
“Joy shall be with me throughout this day. It will flow out from me to bless all whom I meet.”
Now, meet the rest of your day and week, looking forward to reaping greater joy. For we know that everything in our lives responds to the joy in our hearts.
