Rev’s Mid-Week Thought

Grace and Peace, Beloveds,

This past Sunday, I mentioned things with God are never easy. That thought has been stirring in my heart for a few days now, and I wanted to take a moment to encourage our collective hearts.

In our journey with the Divine, we understand simplicity is not always the way. God’s path is one of complexity and divine purpose. Embracing this truth is crucial to our spiritual growth. Consider the profound choices made by God throughout history:

Choosing a barren woman to bear a prophet…

Selecting a reluctant man to preach to Nineveh…

Using a 100-year-old man to be the father of Isaac…

Selecting a boy to kill Goliath…

Commanding seemingly illogical actions of others, such as stretching out a withered hand and telling a blind man to wash in a pool he couldn’t see to locate…

Convincing an unmarried virgin that she would give birth when, in those days, the presumption of sex before marriage could result in her death…

Standing before a tomb and telling a dead man to wake up and come forth.

These divine decisions challenge our preconceived notions of ease and comfort. They remind us that the presence of God is often felt amid difficulty and resistance.

So, when faced with challenges that seem insurmountable, remember: God’s hand is at work. The struggle itself may be the very proof of His presence. Trust in the complexity and embrace the divine journey ahead.
