Rev’s Mid-Week Thought

As we reflect on our daily lives, it is easy to get caught up in the busy-ness and stresses of the world. We depend on our jobs, our relationships, and our own strength to get us through each day. Lest we forget that there is a higher power at work in our lives. There is an old hymn of the church “I need thee.” It is a reminder that we are not in control, and that is both a humbling and comforting thought. Personally, I need the savior for my very survival. Without God, I cannot do anything.

It is easy to take the simple things in life for granted, such as waking up in the morning, having a roof over our heads, and being able to take care of ourselves. But when we truly reflect on these things, we realize that it is not our own doing, but God’s grace that allows us these blessings. It is easy to forget that we are not entitled to these things, and that it is only by the grace of the LORD that we are able to have them. God sent an angel this morning to stir our spirits to wake us up and His blessings allowed us take care of ourselves with minimal hindrances. This is a powerful reminder of God’s constant presence in our lives, even in the most mundane of tasks.

Life is full of challenges and struggles, but as we depend on the LORD, we are able to navigate through them all with faith and trust. We all have experienced valleys, hills, mountains, and setbacks that God has brought us through. These challenges are not promised to go away, but with God by our side, we are able to find strength and perseverance to overcome them. And when we look back, we can see how God has healed us, provided for us, and carried us through each and every trial. We will be able to say with confidence, “if it wasn’t for the Lord on my side, I don’t know where I’d be!” This is a reminder to us all that while people may fail or disappoint us, Jesus never fails and is always there for us to depend on.

Depending on the LORD is not just a concept, but a way of living. It reminds us to be humble and trust in God’s plan for our lives, be grateful for the blessings, both big and small; and most importantly, it reminds us that with God by our side, we can face any challenge and overcome it with faith and perseverance.
