Rev’s Mid-Week Thought

Living by faith and not by sight is crucial to our Christian journey. It means trusting God’s plan for our lives, even when we cannot see what lies ahead. In 2nd Corinthians 5:7, Paul reminds us that followers of Jesus are called to live by faith in God and not rely solely on what we can physically see or understand. This notion is easier said than done, but there are several reasons why it is important to be intentional about living by faith rather than sight.

Remember, God’s plan is always at work, even when we can’t see it.

Living by faith is not just a choice, it’s a necessity. It allows us to fully trust in God’s sovereignty and perfect plan for our lives. When we try to rely on what we can see or control, we limit ourselves. However, when we choose to live by faith, we are surrendering ourselves to God and acknowledging that the Holy Spirit knows what is best for us.

Wentz’s living by faith allows us to grow in our spiritual journey. Faith is like a muscle that needs to be exercised to become stronger. When we choose to trust in God and step out in faith, we strengthen our faith and grow in our relationship with God. It can help us overcome fear and doubt. In a world bombarded with images and messages promoting fear and doubt, it is easy to lose sight of God’s promises and become overwhelmed by what we can see. Yes, the information we receive could make anyone hide their face with overwhelming anxious thoughts. However, when we choose to live by faith, we are reminded that God is always with us and has a plan for our lives. This gives us the courage and strength to overcome any challenges or obstacles that come our way.

I was telling a group a few days ago that are tasked with navigating some serious realities that we don’t know how the story will end. But God knows. We don’t serve God because we understand. We serve God because we trust him. We don’t know where the ditches and trap doors are, but God does. Let us be clear eyed. This will be challenging. As followers of Jesus, let us strive to always put our faith in God and His unchanging promises rather than in the ever-changing circumstances of this world.
