With less than two weeks until the political campaigns conclude, we can finally breathe a sigh of relief from the barrage of negative ads and the anxiety of dissecting polls, demographics, and voting behaviors. This election season, often dubbed the “silly” season, has highlighted two pivotal concepts: Justice and Equality. These terms resonate differently with various communities, hopefully prompting deep reflection on their significance. As I contemplate these meaningful words and prepare to make my voice heard along with the rest of our citizenry, I’m reminded of the teachings in holy writ, particularly the prophet Micah that gives us guidance of what the Lord requires of us in our shared life and pursuit of a more perfect union. “He has told you, O mortal, what’s good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God” Micah 6:8 |
