Beloveds,
Since Sunday, I have been reflecting on how the scriptures repeatedly tell us and show the value of peace that comes through Christ Jesus. Our peace of mind is a precious gift from God. It is a state of calmness and tranquility, even amid chaos and uncertainty. However, in this world, there will always be people and situations that will try to take that peace from us. This can come in the form of toxic relationships, negative influences, and even our own negative thoughts and fears. Be anchored, steadfast, and determined as a strategy against your peace slipping away. There is no fair exchange for our peace of mind. The idea of people, situations, or circumstances trying to rob us of our peace of mind to get us to adopt their agenda, program, way of thinking, and being is a powerful reminder to be vigilant and protect our inner peace no matter what we are presented. We must guard it fiercely and without compromise like a dog guards its bone.
Standing firm in protecting our peace of mind takes work. It requires constant effort and intentionality. But as followers of Christ, we are called to stand firm in our faith and not let anything or anyone sway us from living a life of peace and trust in God. By standing firm, we also set an example for others to do the same. Our peace of mind reflects our faith in God’s plan and promises for our lives. So let us guard it diligently and not let anyone or anything steal it from us. May we continue to stand firm in the Lord and find strength and peace
“Pursue peace with everyone, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and through it many become defiled.”
Hebrews 12:14-15 NRSV
