Rev’s Mid-Week Thought

The holiday season is often seen as a time of joy and celebration. Still, for many, it can also bring grief, sadness and anger. This is especially true for those who have lost loved ones, as I have experienced with the passing of my father. Reflecting on this season, I have come to realize the importance of perspective in life. At times, everything may seem smooth sailing, while at other times, we may feel like we are just barely keeping our heads above water. In these moments, I pray and try to stay connected with the Holy Spirit within me. This brings me peace and helps me navigate the ups and downs of life.

If you find yourself struggling with the ghosts of holidays past or the new realities of life, resisting the resulting changes these new realties bring, remember that we are capable of adapting and finding peace again. Keeping a broader perspective and trusting that everything happens in divine order is essential. With God’s help, we can turn any situation to work for our good.

Beloved friends, we are strong and resilient individuals. We have the ability to bounce back from disappointments and challenges. Our life experiences, both the good and the bad, only strengthen our resolve and enrich our understanding.

Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. —1st Corinthians 16:13
