Rev’s Mid-Week Thought

Dec

As we enter the second week of Advent, we must strive to embody peace deliberately and intentionally. Despite any external factors that may cause distress or divert our attention from our spiritual grounding, we have the ability to transcend these obstacles and maintain the flow of peace that comes from our relationship with God. The divine is the source of all that is good and righteous; through this connection, we can tap into the inherent peace within us.

Peace is not just a fleeting emotion or a temporary state; it is a fundamental aspect of our divine identity. When we find ourselves feeling disconnected from peace, or our peace is disrupted, it serves as a reminder to pause and realign ourselves. We must take a moment to quiet the chaos in our minds and open our hearts to fully embrace the peace surrounding us. As we enter this state of stillness, we can clearly see God’s peace and goodness, and we must actively claim it as our own.

As a family, we must remember that we carry peace with us wherever we go. We possess the ability to bring harmony and tranquility to every aspect of our lives, both individually and collectively. We must not simply strive for peace; we must embody it in all that we do. You and I are peace itself, spreading its light and warmth to all we encounter.

“Peace, I leave you; my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Don’t let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” John 14:27

I came across the theories of peace researcher Franz Jedlicka (“The forgotten peace formula”) who says that peace is hard to achieve as long as corporal punishment of childern is still accepted in a society. Sadly enouth religions have often ignored that nonviolence must start in the families. The same is often true of gender equality as a peace factor.
