Rev’s Thanksgiving Thought

“Thanksgiving is inseparable from true prayer; it is almost essentially connected with it. One who always prays is ever giving praise, whether in ease or pain, both for prosperity and for the greatest adversity. He blesses God for all things, looks on them as coming from Him, and receives them for His sake- not choosing nor refusing, liking or disliking, anything, but only as it is agreeable or disagreeable to His perfect will.” –John Wesley

As we approach a time of gathering with loved ones and indulging in delicious food, I would like to extend a challenge to you. This Thanksgiving, I urge you to set aside some moments to offer up prayers of Thanksgiving. Let us express our gratitude towards God for the blessings of life and for the gift of our beloved family and friends.

This year, we have witnessed numerous disasters and acts of violence that have profoundly affected the lives of many. Let us pray for healing and for the restoration of those affected. May our prayers also extend to those in our church and community who are suffering and in need of comfort. Let us pray for a world where everyone, regardless of race, gender, or identity, can live in peace. May we never be indifferent to the freedom of others, for true love of freedom means advocating for the freedom of all.

God has bestowed upon us countless blessings. In times of joy and laughter, God is with us. The holy spirit gives us courage and hope in moments of fear and doubt. In times of sorrow, the divine provides us with comfort. Let us remember that God is always near.

As a faith community, let us pray for the strength and growth of our faith. Let us also pray for various individuals and groups within our congregation – our preschool staff, teachers, and director, our ministry leadership teams, and the many volunteers who tirelessly give their time,
resources, and talents to make our ministry together meaningful. Let our church continue to make a positive impact, spreading a vision and message of hope.

On this day of Thanksgiving, let us remember that giving thanks is essential to prayer. Let us always approach God with a grateful heart. I am thankful for each and every one of you in our Wentz’s family. I am also thankful for all the ways God works in our midst as we pray for the Holy
Spirit to guide us toward a bright future.

May the grace and peace of God be with you always.

Sincerely,
Rev!
