Rev’s Mid-Week Thought

Over the past couple of weeks, I have experienced moments of discouragement. I’m sure most of you can relate on some level. It’s not any one thing but a combination of circumstances that sometimes produce apprehension. Mike Todd and I have a standing Tuesday afternoon meeting to discuss all things Wentz’s ministry and sometimes life. I was sharing what was on my heart yesterday, and through our conversation, the spirit reminded me to “stick with hope” staying anchored to its sure foundation. Even though crazy and aggravating things happen, “Stay hopeful.”

As I reflect on the concept of sticking with hope, I am reminded of the importance of having constant signposts to remain hopeful. It can be easy to get discouraged and lose sight of our certain hope in Christ, but as the writer of the Hebrews letter tells us, this is an anchor for our soul. In our busy lives and facing challenges, it can be easy to forget this hope and focus on temporary distractions like materialism, false narratives and unfulfilled promises. But when we stay rooted in our certain hope, we can weather any storm and find peace for our minds and hearts.

The image of being anchored in hope is a powerful one. It reminds us that we can hold onto an unchanging and secure hope even when things seem chaotic and out of control. This hope comes from our faith in Jesus and His track record of healing, blessing, and comforting those who come to Him. It serves as a reminder that our hope is not in temporary things but in a steadfast and eternal source who never fails us.

Let this notion of sticking with hope remind us of the power and importance of hope in our lives. Look for the signposts that remind you to remain steadfast and anchored in Christ, even when circumstances may discourage us. As we face life’s challenges and uncertainties, may we always hold onto our sure, steadfast, and certain hope in Christ and find comfort, strength, and peace in the one who walks with us on this life journey.
