Rev’s Mid-Week Thought

Grace, Peace, and Love Be Yours, Family,

One of my philosophies of life is not to sweat the small things that randomly happen that range from annoying to really aggravating. One of which happened to me on Monday afternoon. I locked myself out of the house. You would think this would be a simple issue to resolve. It was not. Thank God for Andy and Mike because I might have had to spend the night sleeping on the patio. John Lennon said, “Life happens when you are busy making plans.” Some of us are dealing with life-altering situations that are anxiety and trauma-producing. What I am about to offer may sound antithetical or swimming against the current. However, I am reminded that Paul admonished the Philippian church, saying whatever state we find ourselves in, we must learn to be content and give thanks. I know personally what it is to have plenty and scarcity. I know what it is like to rent a room in a basement and to live in a big house.

Remember, in the busyness of daily life, we must stop to remember the important things—family, friends, our spiritual life, and our place in the world. Life is eternal, and we are evolving in an infinite universe. Although life’s changes, upheavals, and disruptions may bring ups and downs, the love of God for you and me is constant.

If you don’t get anything else from this thought, remember that whatever is happening to you now has already come to pass. A new possibility of peace dawns on our horizons. Be intentional to place your attention on the presence of God within.

There is no time but a precious present. Remember that the present moment is our opportunity to release the past and move freely into the future. Now is the time to give ourselves in service and love others. Embrace the joy that exists right now.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” Ephesians 6:10
