The Mid-Week Thoughtby Mike Todd

Greetings Wentz’s Family!

If you’ve been paying attention at all, you will have noticed that ever since Rev started last December we have been trying new things at the church. Some of them are about how we worship together on Sunday. Some are about how we engage with each other. Some are about how we engage with the wider community. All of them are about discerning our place in God’s kin-dom and sharing the gospel by following Jesus’s example as best we can. One of the ways we have emulated Jesus is by equipping as many saints as possible to minister to God’s people, just as Jesus did when he sent his disciples out to proclaim the gospel and heal the sick.

This week, we begin mixing in Mid-Week Thoughts from people other than Rev. All of us have ideas that tug at our hearts and are important to us. You may read a Bible passage, or overhear a conversation in the grocery store, or see something in the news that makes you go “hmmm” (cue C+C Music Factory). The Elders and Deacons at Wentz’s are going to be intentional about mixing in their thoughts moving forward, but I encourage all of you to consider sharing your own thoughts and ideas. It doesn’t have to be some deep, theological concern and it’s not about providing answers, but rather asking questions. What gets you energized? What drives you crazy? What keeps you up at night? What makes you smile every time you think of it? I would love to hear from you, and Rev and I will gladly help you develop your thoughts if you’re at all hesitant about writing them out yourself. So, what’s on your mind, Wentz’s? We’d love to know.

Romans 12:6-8  6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
